The Mount Vernon residence sits on a prominent street in the popular North Chattanooga neighborhood. The client requested a modest house, sized large enough for family and visiting guests, but not ostentatious. The solution was a compact four bedroom design, with a primary suite on the main level and three additional bedrooms on a second floor. To further increase the use of the urban infill lot, a small apartment was located above the garage. Light and views were important, so the windows are strategically located to maximize both. A palette of clean whites and neutrals allow the interior spaces to feel open and bright, while natural wood beams and flooring provide an inviting warmth. The gallery-like white walls and abundant light also serve to showcase the client’s personal art collection throughout the residence.
